The
Indiana Holistic Center, Inc. specializes in many
modalities of Massage Therapy and Trauma Therapy.
Founded in 1993
by owner, Beckie Kern,
The Indiana Holistic Center, Inc. created the
first Indiana hospital-based massage therapy
program for patients and employees at Indiana's
largest hospital, Methodist Hospital. Programs
initiated include: Neo-natal massage therapy,
post-traumatic injury therapy (including: auto
accidents, shootings, head and spinal trauma),
and pre- and post-transplant massage therapy for
heart, liver and kidney patients. Another
function of this joint venture was the creation
of a massage therapy program for employees to
help reduce stress and promote well-being for
nurses, doctors, administrators and others
throughout the hospital network. A special
segment on FOX-59 highlighted the massage therapy
program at Methodist Hospital in 1996.
In 1995, the
company branched out to include equine, canine
and feline massage therapy. This program helps
calm animals, restore their confidence, and ease
pain, fear and tension many animals suffer.
By 1996, an
additional program was set up for The
Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana to utilize
massage therapy in rehabilitation for trauma
patients on-site, as well as for their families.
Later that same
year, The Indiana Holistic Center, Inc. added The
Massage Zone at The Indianapolis
International Airport as a
"stress-buster" program for travelers
and employees within IND. In its first week of
business, The Massage Zone worked with
more than 300 travelers and was featured on all
three network evening news shows.
Since then, The
Indiana Holistic Center, Inc. has continued to
grow with its Motorsports
Rehab program on the NASCAR
circuit, implementing many of the classic,
holistic and emerging techniques acquired from
its close working relationships to many
Indianapolis-area hospitals and physicians.
