About The Event

Do you spend much time sitting in front of a computer, on a plane, in a car, in your chair in front of the TV? If so your hips may be locked up which affects your ability to dance, or move without pain, but worse than that, it may be causing you undue stress and fear. The Psoas Muscle, is a long muscle located on the side of the lumbar region of the vertebral column and brim of the pelvis, that is also known as the “muscle of the soul”. This muscle stretches from our lower trunk through our hips into the top of our thighs; it is used for core stability and the fight or flight reflex. When we don’t respond to "fight or flight," these stress hormones go unspent and become stored in the body. This can bring many health problems including insomnia, lowered immune system, anxiety, eating disorders, depression, and living in a constant state of fear or alert.

Many people also experience challenges of isolation, physical inertia, and loss of independence that can lead to individuals sitting for hours in front of a television, their shoulders slumped, heads lowered, sleeping the day away. Interrupting this inertia with activities that promote meaningful engagement, is what the Healing Through Movement workshop will address.

Come spend 90 minutes with us for this interactive workshop to learn how to stretch, relax, and heal the psoas muscle, restore healthy movement, and how to release stress and pain. This is a great workshop for all ages!
