Trauma-informed Yoga
A slow-moving class to calm the fight-or-flight response of trauma
Service Description
When trauma occurs, the nervous system may struggle to discharge the experience paving the way for the mind and body to continue to store that trauma, often resulting in mental and physical symptoms. Since the experienced trauma is often too much, too fast for the nervous system to integrate, this class will move very slowly. Breath work and longer holding yin postures will calm the fight-or-flight response. To address the freeze response, gentle movements will assist the body in re-establishing the mind- body connection. The intention of this class is to hold brave and compassionate space as the practitioner learns to self-regulate and find healing.
